Description
Join a prominent cultural institution leading security operations across a public-facing campus. This role oversees frontline security, emergency preparedness, life safety systems, and the protection of visitors, employees, facilities, and valuable collections.
Who You Are
- You have 7+ years of progressive security operations experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role
- Experienced managing security personnel within a museum, cultural institution, or other complex institutional environment
- Strong knowledge of CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, fire alarm, and life safety systems
- Experienced developing security policies, emergency procedures, training programs, and incident response protocols
- Confident making decisions and leading teams during high-pressure or emergency situations
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
What You’ll Do
- Lead 24/7 security operations, including staffing, scheduling, training, and performance management
- Oversee security and life safety systems, access controls, key management, and security vendors
- Direct incident investigations and coordinate with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other external agencies
- Manage emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, business continuity planning, and staff training
- Ensure appropriate security procedures for visitors, employees, facilities, and the movement of collection objects
- Manage the security budget while identifying opportunities to strengthen operations and improve efficiency

- Visitors, employees, collections, and facilities are protected through consistent security practices
- Security staff are well trained, appropriately deployed, and prepared to respond to incidents
- Emergency plans and security systems remain current, effective, and well coordinated
- Strong relationships with internal teams and emergency response partners support a safe, well-prepared institution
Salary Range: $120,000 – 150,000 annually, based on experience
Location: Newark, NJ – Fully on site
