A leading mission-driven health research organization is seeking an experienced leader to join the team on a temporary basis as an Interim Donor Services Consultant. This senior-level position provides strategic oversight to assess, stabilize, and scale donor operations, ensuring the organization can meet its ambitious fundraising goals.

This role has an estimated assignment length of 6-8 months and is fully remote, based in Eastern Time.
Who You Are
- Senior nonprofit operations leader with 10+ years guiding donor services, advancement operations, or revenue operations functions
- Experienced in scaling donor operations in organizations experiencing significant fundraising growth
- Deep knowledge of CRM ecosystems such as Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce
- Skilled in operational diagnostics, workflow redesign, and organizational change management
- Confident advisor who communicates effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional partners
What You’ll Do
- Review donor services operations including team setup, workflows, service standards, systems, reporting, and donor engagement
- Identify bottlenecks, gaps, and risks affecting efficiency, data accuracy, donor retention, and fundraising growth
- Assess CRM setup, integrations, and reporting capabilities alongside technology teams
- Compare current practices to peer organizations and sector benchmarks
- Develop a strategy to expand and scale donor services in line with fundraising goals
- Recommend optimized workflows, service approaches, staff roles, and performance measures
- Evaluate existing technology platforms including CRM, payment systems, reporting tools, and vendor partnerships (e.g., gift processing services)
- Suggest system upgrades, process automation opportunities, and strengthened data governance
- Lead or advise on implementation of prioritized improvements while ensuring team stability
- Create SOPs, documentation, and training resources; provide guidance on hiring or structural adjustments if required
What Success Looks Like
- Operational risks, inefficiencies, and barriers to growth are clearly identified and documented
- A practical roadmap for scaling systems, workflows, and staffing is established to support fundraising expansion
- Stronger alignment across donor services, technology, finance, and development functions is achieved
- Data governance practices, reporting accuracy, and compliance readiness are strengthened
- Team operations are stabilized through documented processes, defined service standards, and clear performance expectations
Pay Rate Range: $75-95 per hour, based on experience
