Our client, a highly respected single-family office based in Princeton, NJ is seeking a hands-on Tax Manager with extensive experience in high-net-worth (HNW) individual tax return preparation. This is a unique opportunity to join a seasoned, tight-knit team managing a sophisticated multi-asset portfolio. The role offers a hybrid schedule (3 days/week onsite) and the chance to work directly on complex tax structures and long-term planning strategies for one of the industry’s most respected private investment platforms.
About the Firm:
This lean and collaborative organization manages assets exclusively for its Founder and senior leadership team. The investment approach is fundamentally driven and opportunistic, targeting long-term, compounded growth across public and private equity, corporate credit, real estate, and global macro instruments. The portfolio is geographically focused on the Americas and Western Europe, and the firm offers deep exposure to complex investment and tax strategies in a low-ego, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review individual income tax returns for HNW individuals and related grantor trusts
- Develop quarterly tax estimates and detailed income projections
- Review complex K-1s across multi-state entities and coordinate with external preparers
- Analyze trading activity and investment portfolios for tax implications
- Support internal tax deliverables related to personal and investment vehicles
- Partner cross-functionally with investment, legal, and operations teams to improve efficiency
Qualifications:
- 4–6 years of hands-on HNW individual tax return preparation experience
- Strong background in partnership and trust tax
- Experience from a mid-sized accounting firm, private wealth group, or family office preferred
- Proficient with Excel; experience with CCH ProSystem or GoSystems is a plus
- Highly organized with strong communication and project management skills
- Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive projects with precision and professionalism
