Our client, a fantastic arts organization in Lower Manhattan, is seeking a talented HR Director to cover a parental leave from mid-January for approximately 8 months. The ideal candidate will be flexible, have strong interpersonal skills, and be passionate about working within a mission-driven environment. The schedule is full-time and requires 4 days onsite per week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Employee relations and performance coaching, both one-on-one and acting as an advisor to other managers
- Rolling out and maintaining various DEI initiatives and programs
- Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, working with legal to roll out any new policies as necessary to maintain best practices
- Talent acquisition: working with teams to structure and fill any newly opened positions in a strategic fashion
- Collaborate extensively with the Executive Director and leadership team to support the organization in all people-related matters
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Ability to operate both at the strategic level and in the weeds
- Non - profit experience, union experience a plus
- Experience in a mission-driven culture
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sound decision-making and problem-solving in ambiguous, complex and/or high-pressure situations

Pay Rate: $60-70/hour based on experience
