Our client, a top New York City law firm, is seeking an Accounting Assistant. This position is fully on site in Midtown Manhattan.
- Assist with basic bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, reconciliations, and invoice processing
- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software and spreadsheets
- Collaborate with the accounting team to process and record financial transactions, ensuring compliance with firm policies and relevant regulations
- Assist in preparing and maintaining financial reports, summaries, and statements for review by senior accounting staff
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes by organizing and compiling necessary documentation
- Assist in handling accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including tracking invoices, payments, and client billing
- Communicate professionally and courteously with vendors, clients, and internal colleagues regarding financial matters
- Assist in expense tracking and allocation for different client matters and firm operations.
- Maintain a well-organized filing system for financial documents, ensuring easy retrieval when required
- Provide administrative support to the accounting team, which may include scheduling meetings, managing emails, and answering phone calls
- Contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations
- Adhere to confidentiality standards and ensure the security of sensitive financial information.
- Salary Range: $60-70k annually, based on experience
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1-2 years’ Administrative experience at a professional services firm
- Some Accounting experience and understanding of GAAP required
- Precise, detail-oriented, and good with numbers
- Strong Excel skills and generally tech savvy
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
