Description
A leading real estate development and management firm is seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join its high-performing team. This position is hybrid and based 4 out of 5 days per week in Douglaston, NY.
Who You Are
- You have a bachelor's degree in Accounting (or similar) and 5+ years of accounting experience in real estate or property management
- You’ve worked with affordable housing programs and understand the nuances of subsidy billing and compliance
- You’re fluent in Yardi and comfortable navigating financial systems and tools, especially Excel
- You’re familiar with AR/AP processes, with a strong grasp of accounts receivable
- You know how to communicate with government agencies and understand the language of housing regulations
What You’ll Do
- Oversee billing and collections for affordable housing subsidies, including Section 8, HAP, DRIE/SCRIE, and other NYC-specific programs
- Reconcile payments and resolve discrepancies with public agencies
- Generate monthly financial reports and dashboards to track subsidy performance
- Support property managers with guidance on subsidy documentation and income certifications
- Lead bank reconciliations and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
- Contribute to budgeting processes and provide financial insights across multiple properties
- Identify trends and suggest improvements to streamline accounting operations

- Discrepancies with agencies are resolved efficiently, minimizing revenue delays

Salary Range: $90,000 – 110,000 annually, based on experience
