Our client, a New York real estate developer and property manager, delivers innovative living spaces that enhance the communities where people live, work, and shop. With a century of experience, they specialize in developing luxury rentals, condominiums, and mixed-use spaces, alongside managing vibrant, full-service properties. They are seeking a Property Controller to join their team.
As a property controller, you will oversee an accounting department and be the lead contact for banking relationships including operating, security, reserve, and lockbox accounts in addition to various other duties. Extensive Yardi experience is a must.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and administer internal controls for the property management company’s accounting department
- Supervise accounting staff
- Perform monthly closing of books and records; which includes overseeing the reconciliation of operating and tenant security bank accounts
- Analyze and reconcile ledger accounts for portfolio
- Work closely with asset management in creating cashflow projections
- Administer and record debt service payments
- Monitor and record payment of property taxes
- Analyze and record the activity of mortgage escrows and reserve accounts
- Record year-end journal entries and compile audit and tax work papers to facilitate the preparation of audited financial statements and tax returns
- Facilitate various property tax compliance matters; i.e. filings for annual certiorari applications, NYC RPIE’s forms, and tax petitions
- Participate in the preparation of annual operating budgets
- Prepare interim operating statements for partner and mortgagee reporting.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting/finance or a related field
- Must have residential real estate experience
- 7+ years of experience in an accounting role
- CPA preferred
- Extensive knowledge of Yardi software required
- Prior supervisory experience required
- Proficient working knowledge of MS Excel
- Strong communication skills

Salary Range: $150,000-$170,000 annually, based on experience.
